The Faces Behind our work

Jonah

Jonah was born in Ireland and grew up in Oregon. At an early age, he was introduced to the idea of the “renaissance man” and has found himself constantly attracted to learning about anything and everything. He earned a B.Sc. in Physics, then explored Philosophy and earned a Doctorate in Theology. He also completed an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from the George Washington University in Washington D.C.
As an educator, he has taught in a university, two seminaries, and three high schools. His passion for education and communication also led him to produce and promote a series of documentary videos and publish several books. Jonah brings wide-ranging experience, skill in public relations and communication, an international network across many institutions and fields of expertise, and a passion to make the world a better place through the improvement of education. He serves in the role of Executive Director.

Christoph

Christoph is half-German, half-Italian. At an early age, he developed the desire to create and build things that positively affect the world we live in, through entrepreneurial activity and also through public service and politics. Though considering himself a person of action, he has always given priority to first properly understanding the world we live in and the forces that drive it.
He holds a Bachelor in Economics, a Master of Science in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and a Master of Research in Economics. He also followed courses on artificial intelligence and mathematical philosophy at the Ludwig Maximillian University of Munich. He is currently senior manager in two Milan-based FinTech companies and a board member of a third, operating in the field of blockchain and artificial intelligence.
He believes that education is key in facing today’s complex world with hope and courage and changing it for the better.

Lorenzo

Lorenzo is a computational neuroscientist at the Janelia Research Campus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He grew up loving literature, philosophy, and rock music. Being fascinated with the fundamental principles of nature, he earned a B.Sc. and an M.S. in Physics at the University of Rome. During his training as a physicist he became interested in the origin of the mind and of intelligent behavior. He obtained a Ph.D. in Neuroscience studying the neural mechanisms of speech perception at the E.N.S. in Paris and the University of Geneva.

As a research scientist, he investigates the neurobiological mechanisms of making decisions. He has extensive experience in mathematical and computational modeling, machine learning, and data analysis. He consults for Opus 73 and is available for live-streamed conversations about neuroscience, data science, and related issues with school and universities.

Evelyn

Evelyn is an assistant professor at Rice University in the Center for Theoretical Biological Physics. She enjoys thinking about how seemingly abstract ideas about culture and knowledge can be made useful and relevant for our needs today. This begins from her research, where she uses physics and quantitative tools to model biological function and cognitive behavior. On a larger scale, she is interested in connecting different perspectives to understand what drives human learning, motivation and resilience. Evelyn has served as a young member in the Pontifical Academy for Life, is a board member in the American Society of Physics’ Soft Matter Division and is on the editorial board for the journal Communication Physics. Hailing from Malaysia, she speaks Chinese and Italian in addition to English. In her free time, she does acroyoga and dance.

She is available for consultation and talks on themes such as emergent beauty and patterns in the midst of complexity or change, and on educational challenges and adaptation in today’s world.

Wallace

Wallace brings legal expertise and more than 25 years of Technology, Finance, Energy and Renewable Energy experience to our team. He has managed 200+ deals in excess of $1.5 Billion, involving an average of 20 funds and financings per year.
His professional expertise includes IPOs, Venture Financing, M&A and Corporate Finance. He has taken four companies public on the AIM Exchange in London.

He also has worked extensively with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which aids over 84,000 needy citizens a year.

Miriam

Miriam was born in Slovakia and her exploratory spirit made her move to the UK after graduation. In London, she immersed herself into further studies at the London School of Economics and obtained a master’s degree and professional management qualifications. As a senior professional she has international experience in project management, marketing and events within the public and private sector. She spent a decade at the LSE, managing an international educational program between LSE and the National Research University – Higher School of Economics (HSE) Moscow, with the main mission of building a centre of academic excellence in Moscow. Her contributions to that mission included managing a budget in excess of 1 million dollars, supporting research and academic personnel, engaging stakeholders, and recruiting staff. Later, she applied and expanded her skills at the University of Pavia as a research manager, supporting the pre- and post-award grant management processes and activities.

She is specialized in funding opportunities and assistance in project proposals and management, and brings excellent organizational and planning skills combined with strategic thinking to the Opus 73 team.
